Essay on A Journey By Train

Last year, during summer vacation, I had an occasion to go to Sukkur. We could have reached Sukkur by bus but it was something tedious as we had to go to Hyderabad by bus and take a wagon bound for Nawab Shah and then at Nawab Shah take another wagon bound for Sukkur. So I decided to go by train. I bought my ticket from railway agency at Gru Mandir and reached Cantonment station half an hour before the departure time. The Mail bound for Rohri was over crowded. Passengers were shouting and trying to get into the railway carriage, since my seat was already booked I got my seat easily.

The train started just at the appointed time. It stopped at Drigh Road, and Malir cantt and then ran for Jung Shahi. I had my seat just near a window and was peeping through it. Vast deserts with no trees or plants ran past me. Gushes of hot wind came through the window and brought with it the grey dust of sand.

The train ran without stopping at Rn Pathani. It stopped for a few minutes at Jung Shahi which appeared deserted. Only two hawkers, and two passengers were there. From Jung shahi the train started for Kotri. Kotri has long platform. Some passengers were getting down and some were trying to board. Hawkers shouted and sold Kabab Roti, biscuits, cakes, pastries, pan and cigarette. Railway coolis were busy in taking luggage down or throwing into the train.

From Kotri the train started and halted at Hyderabad. It was a busy station. Quite a good number of passengers got down the train there. I came out to roam about and see the station. After half an hour, a new engine was attached to the train and the train started again halting at Nawab Shah, Shahdad pur and also at a few more stations. At last it reached Rohri.

Rohri is a junction. It is a big station with many platforms. My bogy was taken off the mail rain and attached to a passenger train bound for Sukkur. The passenger train reached Sukkur at dusk and thus the journey came to an end.

Essay on A Journey By Bus

Last summer, the marriage ceremony of my Uncle’s elder daughter was held at Hyderabad. My family had already gone there and only I was left behind in Karachi because my school had not closed for summer vacation yet. My programmed was to reach Hyderabad a day before the marriage day.

I took my Hyderabad bound bus at 7 a.m. at wood street. At 7:30 the bus started with only a few passengers. It moved a few yards and stopped for passengers who were waiting at the McLeod road corner. Then from Numaish to Sohrab Goth it stopped at every ten or fifteen yards for the passengers till there was no room to stand even and the extra passengers had the honour to sit on the roof.

The sun rose higher and higher and it became hotter and hotter. The wind coming in through the windows was hot and brought dust with it. Every one was perspiring profusely and Was grey with dust. Our first stop was Gharo. There were hotels by the road side where flies swarmed and people spat on the floor. Some passengers got down to take coca cola or tea. After fifteen minutes, the horn of the bus was blown by the driver. The passengers rushed in and the bus started moving.

The next stop of the bus was at Thatta. Here better hotels were seen. Nearly all the passengers got down to take refreshment. I also got down as due to sitting in the bus for about two hours my legs had become numb. I drank a bottle of coca cola to quench the thirst. Flies swarmed there also. After half an hour the bus started again.

The bus again stopped at Shujawal. Thence it ran straight for Hyderabad crossing the Kotri bridge it first stopped near Hyderabad railway station where I got down covered with dust and sweat. I took a Tonga for my uncle’s house and reached quite exhausted. After a cold shower 1 was able to relate the damned Journey.

Essay on Students and Politics

Of late much has been said in pros and cons of the burning question, "Should students take part in politics". A few years ago the supreme court of Pakistan gave their verdict on the question and prohibited the students from taking active part in politics. The government of all the four provinces imposed ban on student’s political organizations. The educational institutions went a step farther and before giving them admission they demanded the students to submit un undertaking that they would not take part in politics. Despite all these steps the things arc not so bright as expected.

We know that anything, if done unscrupulously, will lose its charms and benefits. Even the acts of kindness, generosity and magnanimity become undesirable if not kept within limits and arc performed recklessly. The participation of students in politics is not an exception. Since it has not been done in an appropriate way, and has been given the freedom of crossing all limits, it has become a curse.
Unfortunately, in Pakistan all the major political parties have their baby organizations in schools, colleges, vocational institutes and universities. These organizations have not been reacted with a view to training the students for future but only for serving the political ends and interest of their parent politic all parties. They arc encouraged by their parent bodies to take extreme actions to crush their opponent by violence and to create commotions. The educational institutions are closed for long periods due to their strikes, killings, putting offices to fire, breaking furniture and destroying what things they can lay hands on. And when the culprits are arrested the concerned political parties put up a hue and cry, issue threatening statements and accuse the authorities with the result that the culprits become heroes and get encouragement.

Students have the right to prepare themselves for the future. Some of them would be required in future to lead people politically, to participate in the politics of the country or hold sonic important political office in the government. To prepare themselves for this, they need practical training so that they may prove efficient leaders in future. This training must start on a small scale. They should not be allowed to take active part in the politics of the country and play tools in the hands of senior politicians who serve their political ends by instigating them. In fact the student who participate in the politics of the country and behave like a puppet in the hands of selfish and conscience-less senior politician serve neither themselves nor the country.

Our students arc intelligent. They should realize their duty as a student and should not sacrifice their academic career for politics. They must, first of all, get knowledge, then participate in politics.

They are reasonable, patriotic and selfless. They must not fly to destroy the properties of their institutions or public properties. Their politics must be limited to the affairs of their debating societies and unions for training purpose.

Essay on How to Control Pollution

In the last two or three centuries, science has made great progress. We are living in the age of continuous industrial revolution. We have built vast industries that are providing large quantities of goods and machines.

Millions of factories in all parts of the world are sending huge quantities of carbon dioxide and other poisonous gases in the atmosphere. This is not the whole story. They are pouring continuous streams of harmful chemicals into the rivers of the world. Every hour our cars, buses and aeoplanes are discharging deadly poisons into our atmosphere. There are three kinds of pollutions which we are facing.
  1. Atmospheric Pollution
  2. Water Pollution
  3. Noise Pollution
Efforts are being done to control the pollution throughout the world. The hole of ozone layers is being tried to repair. Many special organization has been made to control the pollution. The electronic and print media is trying to produce complete awareness about the pollution and its causes and about its results in future. I think following attempts can be made to control the pollution.
  1. Complete awareness should be provided to people by using electronic and print media.
  2. It should be ordered to all factory and mills owners that they must destroy their wastes in the most careful way.
  3. Recycling of the wastes should be introduced in factories.
  4. The smoke of the transporting vehicles should be controlled by using special devices.
  5. The rattling of machines and the pressure horns should be avoided and the noisy process should be controlled.
  6. The discharge of the wastes into the rivers should be stopped.

Essay on A City of Problems

Big cities are generally thickly populated all over the world. People from different parts of different parts of a country come to the big cities and they have different natures and constitute a society in a big city, therefore many problems are produced in a big city due to thick population and the different nature of the people. Karachi is the big city of Pakistan and it is rightly called "A City of Problems". Due to thick population and ever expanding quality of Karachi, the life of Karachi has become quite difficult and troubling.
  1. There are many problems which we face daily are following.
  2. Traffic and transport problems.
  3. The problems of frequent power failure of electricity.
  4. The problem of short supply of drinking water.
  5. The problems of less number of amusement parks and public libraries.
  6. The problems of broken roads and lack of speed breakers.
  7. The problems of insanitary condition which looks nearly every where.
Majority of the people in Karachi travel in buses, mini buses and coaches which run on the road with full of passengers even the passengers are looking on their roof and hanging outside. Traffic in Karachi is now beyond control. Due to the reckless driving thousands of lives are lost every year. The supply of electric power is inadequate and far from well, low voltage damages the costly electric appliances. The people are looked in great trouble due to the frequent power failure of electricity.

Great rush of people and heavy traffic is a part of life in big cities. So in Karachi the great rush of people and heavy traffic is looked everywhere, here people work like machines. Atmospheric pollution is common due to the smoke of vehicle and the use of chioroflouro carbon. Noise pollution also makes the life of people uneasy.

In Karachi, people are suffered from the short supply of drinking and the daily us of water. The broken roads and insanitary conditions are nearly everywhere which make difficult to move even on foot. Crimes are at peak in Karachi. In buses and wagons pockets are usually picked. Theft, dacoities and burglaries are common. Besides the adulteration, corruption, bribery in offices and violence are the major problem that we face everyday in Karachi. Nowadays homosexuality of young boys and the business of prostitution is increasing. Street beggars are common in Karachi. They get together on the places of amusement and in markets where they try to convince people for their help.

On considering the problems of Karachi as the life in big city, we conclude that the life in big cities has many charms and attractions, it provides many facilities but is also full of mental confusion and worries which destroy the creativity of a person.

Essay on Cell Phone Effects

Mobile phones which are also known as cell phones are cordless telephones linked to a digital cellular radio network. Mobile phones can connect to the Internet via a data card which converts computer data into a form that can be passed over the network and vice versa.

Mobile phones have revolutionized the Societies of the world. Every single person is now taking interest in keeping a mobile phone. Mobile phones prove a good invention of science because they can receive and send signals to communicate. The hand sets are so small that they can be easily kept in pocket. Everyone who has a mobile phone set and connection can be detected easily and his relatives and friends and other persons who want to talk to him on important matter can easily call him on his personal mobile phone. Thus mobile phones make the world more closely.

Every technology has its pleasant effects as well as bad effects, similarly where mobile phones are the source of many advantages, they also provide a trend of fashion. People want to keep the mobile phone of latest technology, they spend a lot of money on buying mobile phone without considering on their budget of income and expenditure. The students are looking everywhere playing with their mobile phones. Some immoral activities are also being shown by the use of the mobile phones. The rate of crimes has also been increased due to the increasing use of mobile phones. Hence we can say mobile phone is necessity, if it is used in constructive process but if it is used only as fashion, it becomes a great source of the wastage of our precious time.

Essay on Rapidly Increasing Population

The growth in population has been caused not by sudden increase in fertility. This has been caused due to advance in medical and ancillary science and the consequent decrease in the death rate. The other causes for the growth of population in Pakistan are poverty, lack of education, early marriages, particularly among the rural population and general attitude of the people towards family. Children are considered gift and blessing of God. Practical application of family planning methods is not so popular among the people.

The government has not been able to prevent the growth rate in spite of family planning program due to lack of practical use of birth control methods. The government has admitted its failure to limit the population to the proposed target. Rapid population growth is also tending to overuse of the countries natural resources, particularly in rural areas where majority of the people depending on agriculture for their livelihood. With rapidly increasing population, agricultural holdings are becoming smaller and unproductive.

With rapidly growing population, it is becoming difficult to manage adjustments relating to economic and social changes. Urbanization trend is creating such problems as housing, power, water and transport problem. Rapidly increasing population to an increased demand for food products, clothes, houses etc. is also plunging the economy into large scale of unemployment and under employment. With increasing the population, proportion of worker to total population is also rising. Rapidly growing population is also leading to environmental damage. Scarcity of land is pushing a large number of people to ecologically sensitive areas such as hill sides and tropical forests.

Essay on An Interesting Cricket Match

Cricket is an interesting and exciting game. It gives pleasure to both players and viewers. Once I had a chance to sc an interesting and exciting cricket match. The match was played between Pakistan and West Indies at Karachi Stadium. The match was very exciting ad there was huge gathering at Karachi Stadium. The players of Pakistani cricket team and West Indian cricket team were in high spirit of nationalism and self power of playing. It was a fine day, the captains of both team tossed for batting first. Fortunately the Pakistani team won the toss and decided to bat first and the players of West Indian team took field.

The two batsman who went in first from Pakistani team were quite good players. One was famous for his good hitting while the other was very careful. The bowling of West Indian team was very strong but Pakistani players played very well and they scored 250 runs with the loss of seven wickets.
The West Indian players started batting after Lunch. The famous West Indian player played very fast but soon he was out. The audience was cheering and clapping at the bowling performance of Pakistani player. Another famous player of West Indies played strongly and he made a score over a century but he was caught out smartly at mid off. The last fifteen minutes of the match were very exciting. The players of West Indies tried to make a great score but unfortunately the whole team was out at the score of 240 runs and Pakistan had won that exciting and interesting match.

Essay on Low Purchasing Power

Prices play a very vital role in the modern economy particularly the one which involves a free enterprise system. They guide and organize, like an invisible hand, almost all the economic activities concerning production, consumption, distribution and exchange of goods and services. The important functions usually performed by the prices perform the function of Co-ordination between consumption and production automatically. The consumers are able to convey their preferences through the prices they are willing to offer.

Similarly, the producers are able to indicate the channels into which they would allocate their productive resources. When price of a commodity rises it checks demand and stimulates supply, and vice versa. The price of a commodity or a service constitutes an income, which is through purchasing power, determines the extent and direction of economic activities. Due to this important function of prices there seems to be every justification to say, that the modern free enterprise system is governed by prices.

Prices are supposed to harmonize the interest of both the consumers and the producers. According to Beriham, ‘They tend to harmonize the desire of entrepreneurs for profits and the desire of consumers to satisfy their wants as fully as possible from the factors of production available. Prices automatically allocate the productive resources among the various uses in such a manner that each makes a maximum contribution to the total output.

Any misallocation is rectified through the price indicators. Price allocates the available labour force of a country by balancing the relevant supply and demand without any favoritism and injustice.
Analyzing the role of prices in an economy it can be concluded that the movements of prices can control the whole working of economy. Therefore, the factors including fiscal and monetary policies and institutions which are responsible to determine the direct ions of movements should be exploited very wisely. A healthy and smooth working of an economy largely depends upon the smooth movements of prices. Abrupt changes in movement of prices result in far- reaching distortions in the working of an economy.

The inflationary pressure in Pakistan has been considered mainly due to the global cause by the experts and economists. Being linked with the economies of other countries on basis of foreign trade, economic assistance, transfer t technology and direct foreign investment, Pakistan cannot avoid its impact. However, Pakistan has to suffer harder than the other due to her particular domestic circumstances; prolonged adverse position of balance of payments, extension deficit financing, international currency disturbances and acute shortage of commodities surplus to be exported. Besides, the constant increase in prices of imports such as wheat edible oils, petroleum and various kinds of machinery etc. has put Pakistan in great trouble. Since the last thirty years constructional activities in both the public and private sectors have increased to a great extent. The expenditure on construction have considerably increased the total supply of money in the country which has ultimately led to galloping inflation in Pakistan- To ease the burden of debt servicing and to lower the budget deficit a transparent privatization programme can help effectively. For this purpose, privatization proceeds should be properly used for debt retirement.

The habit of smoking is increasing day by day in the world. Young and old people are looking to smoke cigarettes at various places. Smoking is the most dangerous for health. Cigarette smoking has become a fashion in the societies of the world. The use of tobacco makes a person habitual and he feels restless when he does not smoke.

The students in colleges and universities are also looking to smoke even in their institution because they see their elders and teachers smoking, thus cigarette smoking is becoming a part of culture. Essay on Women and Employment

Islam gives great laws about social system, In Islamic rules, the rights of individuals are kept in first place. The Quran declares that the best act is good treatment to women. According to Quran and the sayings of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him), the status and the rights of women are cleared.
  1. And the believers, men and women are protecting friends. (Surah Toba)
  2. The Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) says ‘God commandeth you treat women well, for they are your mother, daughters, sisters and aunts.”
  3. Allah says in the Holy Quran, ‘This is the duty of every Muslim man and woman to acquire knowledge and educate.”
Woman in Islam is highly respected as wife, mother, daughter and sister. Before Islam, birth of a female child was highly resented and repented. They were burned alive. In fact it is Islam that has presented the idea of women’s honour and rights. To secure strong economic position for them, Islam has given full property rights to women. Islam has given all the social rights to women like freedom, choice of partner, good education and inheritance.
Education is equally important for both boys and girls. Basically education is a universal need, rather right of every citizen, Education is an equal right of women. Girls are said to be the light of home. If they are educated, they will carry the light wherever they go. If the women are educated, they can prove themselves as better mothers and wives. They can educate the children and have great influence on them. They can teach them the respect for the superiors, the teachers arid the taws of country. We should pray to God that a time will come when everyone without the difference of sexes learn the advantage of education.

In limitation of the west, our women too have demanded equal rights with men in every field of life and are even trying to adopt the fashions of men. They want equal seats in assemblies, equal number of posts in the government service, equal chance of freedom and movement and even equal rights in domestic life. Many of them shun the responsibilities of motherhood and prefer to remain unmarried. They are working in factories, offices and even in the army. Thus the whole Eastern concept of "Womanhood" being revolutionized and the new ideas are being represented to us is the name of and civilization, Islam recognizes the equality of the two sexes fully well hut equality should not be understood to mean the tasks of the two sexes are alike.

The state of freedom from war or violence is called "Peace". It is the state which can make this world like a heaven. The importance of peace in the world can be described by short comparison of war and peace.
  1. War is destructive, peace is constructive.
  2. War destroys, peace preserves.
  3. War calls in beast in man, peace makes man civilized.
  4. War creates hate, peace promotes love and friendship.
  5. War causes bloodshed, peace brings progress and prosperity.
People long for peace and raise their hands in prayers. The victories of peace are no less than the victories of war. In the first place, peace is indispensable for human progress. All the mighty inventions of science and the creations of art are the victories of peace. Peace gives us the message of universal brotherhood and friendship. Humanity cannot survive without love and peace.
Islam is a religion of peace. It gives clear ideas and the best reforming laws about social and political systems. The great purpose of Islam is to produce an everlasting state of peace in the world. Islam gives also very clear ideas about the peaceful individual life. Hazrat Muhammad (Peace be upon him) showed practically the examples of peace. He always prayed for his enemies. After the conquest of Makkah, he forgave all his enemies and tried to create a peaceful atmosphere there. He established a harmonious society in Madina. Islam teaches the lessons of mutual respect but it also gives lessons to fight against the evils and to establish the state of peace after making struggle, war and efforts.

Is war necessary for peace? it is a very difficult question to answer. Before answering it man must see it ins and outs. If war is necessary, it is a necessary evil. Its evil is sometimes concealed for a time by its glamour and excitement, but when war is seen in its reality, there is a very little glory about it. At its best, it is a hideous calamity in the great wars, millions of men, women and children were killed, or died of disease, famine and untold sufferings.

After the event of 11th September, and the destruction of the World Trade Center in the United States of America, war to win peace has become more expeditious. The American establishment has tried to interfere the politics of the countries which are considered as working to use their energies for warfare. The destruction and killing in Afghanistan and Iraq is the part of war to win peace. The American establishment calls their struggle is for the end of nuclear trend in the world but it is making the exploitation of human rights. The war to win peace is actually a devilish plot to destroy the power of those who are trying to get their basic rights.

War is not necessary to win the peace. The peace can be established by showing great moral values and by providing the equal rights for everyone. So the world could be made a peaceful and happy place. Islam teaches the lessons of peace and tolerance. Islam is the religion with the greatest ideas about human rights. It gives a complete description of duties and rights. It gives the teaching of mutual respect and it provides all such qualities, if they are implemented rightly than no war is needed to establish the peace in the world.
